Since the use of computers have become the predominant medium for designers to express their ideas, the value of hand sketching has become more valuable.

I have found that by generating sketches using just trace paper and a pen, that my idea’s are more fluid and creative. If I sit at the computer too long I begin to lose the essence of my design. I think that sketching is something that designers should never give up regardless of how great rendering programs progress. There is something so much more creative when holding a pen and being able to quickly and freely jot down concepts.

An article that I was instructed to read was “Architecture Sketching or How to Sketch Like Bob” by the Life of an Architect. The author Bob Borson has 5 great tips for his sketching methods listed in the link below. After attempting to follow along, I found that my sketching technique improved drastically.
